My cat got bitten by something and he s losing muscle! Helppp!!!!!!?

Ask: So my 2 year old male cat came home about a week ago limping inside. I noticed a bite wound and saw it looked pretty bad so I cleaned it three times a day with peroxide/water solution. The wound closed up and healed fine. The following day he had swelling and refused to eat or drink for about three days.

Thinking it was an abcess, I used a warm compress which did help the swelling subside. Now I m noticing lethargy, and complete disinterest in anything.

His eating and drinking habits are back to normal and he puts light pressure on it to walk, but he s losing muscle in his hind leg. Will he be alright or should I make the costly trip to the vet? I love him so much and I really want him to be okay.

Answer:
Science Times: He needs to go to the vet. There may be an underlying infection, he picked up one of the many very serious infectious diseases cats get outside from each other and wild animals (he was fighting with something dangerous), which is why they are not supposed to be out there, he could have sepsis (that is what it sounds like), there is a break in the bone.........could be a lot of things. After 5 days, and with these symptoms, I'd get him in ASAP, tomorrow, even if you have to wait for them to work him in. Make sure you let them know he goes outside.

Peroxide should not be used on humans or animals - it kills off more good tissue than bad, and hampers healing (mentioning that for next time).
