My cat keeps falling asleep, what is wrong with her?

Ask: My cat keeps falling asleep, what is wrong with her?

Answer

Jojo:
Nothing! That's what cats do!

Jonas:
I am overcome with concern. I have a few follow up questions... What breed is she? When does she most often fall asleep? Does she snore? How old is she? Is she racist?

A simple explanation might be that she is suffering from CCDWMLTFS (Classic Cat Depression Which May Lead To Frequent Slumber) It's a thing. My sister had it. By sister I mean my parents' cat, Cleopatra. Please take your cat immediately to the CVPVFHTW. :)

Emma:
Cats are generally lazy house pets. It would naturally depend on the age of the cat. Were the energy levels different and this is a new found fatigue? If its a kitten its because its young and like all young children and animals they grow during sleep.

If it is older then it is because again like all older animals and humans they dont have the energy they once did and need sleep to recharge. If you're still concerned take your cat to the vet

Lemur:
Cats sleep on average 16 hours per day, however young kittens and elderly cats (over seven years) sleep up to 18 hours per day. If your cat is elderly excessive sleep is normal.

If your cat is of adult age and sleeping over 16 hours per day it could be a sign of illness. Sometimes, cats can get anaemia which causes them to sleep a lot.

Check for paleness of the cats gums to detect this, but always consult a vet for a proper diagnosis and treatment as soon as possible if you are worried.
