Is it okay to nueter and spay my cat's at 8 months old?

my cats/kittens are now 4 months old.

i live in the capital of saudi arabia (which has the so-called best vet i'll ever find in this goddamn country) SO DON'T TELL ME TO GO TO ANOTHER VET.

so i took my kittens to the vet and asked him to spay them and he refused and said that it will harm them and will not let them grow up properly!

and that i should bring them back when they start spraying or -quoting him:- at least when they are 8 months old!

there are no other vets (well actually they are but they really have bad reputation, tTHEY DON"T EVEN HAVE THEIR OWN CLINICS. THEY ONLY HAVE A SMALL TINYYY ROOM IN A PETS STORE!!)

i told the vet that i read that its totally okay to spay kittens even when they are 2 months old but he insists!

so guys what do u think? is that okay? are they gonna mate or something?????

Wow, I've never heard of a vet suggesting you let cats start spraying before you fix them. Once a cat starts spraying it's a hard habit to break, and neutering them may not stop it. My vet won't spay or neuter before 5 months, but I've been told by others they can be spayed amd neutered as early as 3 months as long as they are at least 3 pounds. I would tell this vet you aren't waiting until your cats develop a terrible (also destructive and smelly) habit to have them fixed. Insist he do it now. If he refuses though, I'm not sure what to tell you since you don't have another vet option.

Elaine:
It's generally done at 6 months of age here. If your cats are healthy enough to go under the anesthetic, they can be spayed/neutered just fine.

Zo:
Tell him it is your choice and you feel is it best to spay them, you could also lie and say that the female (or one of the females) just went through heat and you dont want to worry about her getting pregnant, so you could at least get the females spayed until the males turn 8 months old. If he advises heat suppressant shots, never say yes, they are very harmful to your cat. Good luck:)

Cleve:
They can be safely spayed/neutered at as young as 6 weeks of age. In fact, "pediatric spay/neuter" reduces the risks of complications and takes less time which means less anesthesia. Two of mine were spayed at 10 weeks. Females can become pregnant as early as 4 months so the earlier the better.
