Who knew cats were afraid of cucumbers?

Ask: I had no idea that cats were afraid of cucumbers until I saw a YouTube video on that.

Answer

Elaine:

They're not.
What causes this is that they're eating in a 'safe' environment and someone puts something they don't know directly behind them - they turn and all they see is something dark like a predator/snake and immediately react to get clear of the attack.

This not only causes extreme fear in the pet, they can't stop their instinct from saying 'get away fast before it kills you'. Predators come up from behind, they kill small animals like cats.

It's inexcuseable to cause this kind of fear in your pet for a stupid joke.

Erik:
I didn't know that either. Its really weird and funny at the same time.
Mircat:
Cats (meaning all cats) are not afraid of cucumbers. Because you see something about one cat does not mean that works for all cats.

Warrent:
Not me, but then again I think that doing anything to frighten a cat just to make a stupid Youtube video is cruelty.

As I commented on another story about this silly stupid Internet fad, "I am going right out today and buy a cucumber... to toss into my Ninja blender with some other veggies and turn them into a gallon of homemade gazpacho." If I ever put videos of our cats up on YouTube it will something cute like playing fetch or catch with them, not intentionally scaring them. SICK!
