My cat is really fat?

Ask: My cat is very "fluffy", and he seems to be getting bigger, to the point where I'm getting concerned. I don't want him to have any health problems.

We feed him the correct amount of food and he goes outdoors plenty - we think that he is probably eating from someone's trash or something.

He used to be homeless before we adopted him so it wouldn't be surprising if this was the case.

I'm really not sure what to do about this. I don't want to stop him going outside because it's something he enjoys, but at the same time his size is getting to be a real concern. Help!

Meow:
Your cat isn't fat from eating garbage outside he's fat because you're surely feeding it a grocery store dry food made mostly of corn with NO real meat.

Switch your cat to a food made with real meat, grain free and just put down a small handful twice day - that's all he needs.

If he's really obese get him to a vet for a checkup. Obesity can cause LOTS of health issues including diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, arthritis.
