There's a very large female tuxedo cat that has been in the neighborhood for 8 years. The tuxedo cat has been chasing and attacking my little cat from the time I got her. My cat has always retreated to the safety of my fenced patio or she comes inside. One time they were looking at each other and the tuxedo cat sprang into the air screaming and landed on my cat. They rolled end over end several times and my cat ran away. (She wasn't hurt.) I always leave the slider open for her when she's outside.
The tuxedo cat was recently left behind/abandoned by her owners. Concerned neighbors have been feeding her and providing outdoor shelters for her. A few weeks ago, I saw the tuxedo cat calmly crossing the street toward my home. My cat was hiding in the bushes watching. My cat charged her and chased her away.
Today I heard the tuxedo cat yowling. I went to investigate and saw my cat and the tuxedo standing about 6 inches from each other. They were both tense, but still. After a few minutes the tuxedo cat backed off and walked away. The video's not very good I know. My cat is on the right, but she's so black you can't see her. Seems my cat is no longer afraid of her. Does this mean my cat has earned the other cat's respect?

Anonymous: There is no such thing as an "indoor outdoor cat". Cats live indoors. Feral cats live outdoors - and die young horrible deaths. An outdoor cat is a soon-to-be-suffering-or-dead cat. Please call all the rescue /adoption agencies after the holidays and see if they can help you find a home where the family will pledge never to put the poor thing at as much risk as you do. I hope you're not in my neighborhood - I cringe every time I hear pitiful cries of yet another cat we have to get to the vet for euthanization because of horrible injuries - some bad owner's former cat.
I"m the one that held the poor boy whose eye was on his cheek; I held the little kitten whose intestines were exposed and gangrenous - the vet thought that had been an attack by a racoon - and I gave morphine to the big Maine Coon sweet boy with the belly rubbed bloody from crawling on his belly with 4 broken legs - and he also tested positive for FIV AND FelV - he used to be someone's pet. I held them all while they died. If you live in my neighborhood, thanks a lot for putting another one out there for me to find after she's hit by a car or attacked by a possum, racoon, or rabid feral cat. Thanks.
Jhon M: That happens all the time they get chased until they stand up for them self. I find it the same way with dogs if I am riding my bicycle. They will chase me if I try to out run them but back off if I stop.
That other cat slowly walking away is saying Ok you win but I am not going to run.
