Would you adopt an Apbt from the shelter?

Ask: Would you adopt an Apbt from the shelter?

Answer

Julie:
I personally would not. It's not that the dog comes from a shelter. It's because this is a breed I wouldn't be interested in owning, but I have nothing against the breed itself. (I just don't find them to be an attractive breed, however shallow that may sound, it's the truth.) Everyone has their own preferences and the Doberman Pinscher is my breed of choice.

Greyhound:
No - I have three large dogs in my home right now.
If and when I adopt another dog, it will be from one of the rescue groups I foster for & it'll be another Greyhound.

I personally prefer sight-hounds, and I have an agreement with our local shelter to foster and/or get accepted into adoption groups any Greyhounds or Lurchers that come through their doors.

Cdog:
No, Pit Bulls aren't for me. However, my good friend did adopt one from the shelter, and she couldn't be happier with her. She's her jogging companion and after some initial skirmishes, gets along well with her Bulldogs, who aren't able to go for long jogs.

Jo:
If I was experienced enough with the breed, yes I would. But I won't because I'm not even close enough to being experienced enough of a dog person to deal with one although I have met several sweet dogs of that breed.

Nobby:
No. Terriers arent a problem for me, but if I have one I want to raise them myself. The early weeks are so important for training and socialisation,
I've had collie and crosses from the shelter.

Anonymous:
Personally, I would not. I have nothing against pit bulls, but I don't have the personality nor the energy for such a high energy sporting breed. (I'm too slow and too asthmatic.)

Elaine:
Personally I wouldn't own a pit at all. I don't like the overall look of the dog. I prefer salukis and borzoi.
