Deanna:
Discipline is not the way to go to correct behaviour the animal needs to learn the correct behaviour through positive reinforcement and praise for showing the correct behaviour, dogs do not understand when human are angry or upset all they see is a human who is supposed to be their leader in a weak state of mind, causing them to feel unstable and feeling like they are under pressure needing to take charge, this leads to behavioural problems such as snapping at humans to correct what they see as bad behaviour, you need to first ensure your dog knows his place in the pack.
You need to think like a pack leader, stay calm and assertive and correct the unwanted behaviour with firm "no" don't hit the dog, or shout or put him in a crate or the garden, they won't understand why this is happening.
Hope this was helpful, Good luck! :-)
Pucman:
Male or female.
With huskies you need a good leash. especially with males. The need a firm hand. But fair, once you gain their trust. A husky is one if the most loyal dogs you can have. Run them a lot . Everyday . Trying out a husky will make him or her less likely to be pacing around getting into trouble.
Also you will need a good fence. I mean a real good fence. They will scale or climb or jump over cheap fences.
You didn't say what type of husky . I had a female Siberian . She loved to run. She listened to me well because I took her out everyday , I fed her and played with her. If you do that with a dog. The discipline will follow.
Huskies are head strong. You also have to be and nice .
A husky is not a good dog for most people
Jack:
You train a dog, you don't discipline a dog. Huskies are very willful dogs, and need massive amounts of exercise. I suspect if you feel the need to discipline your dog, you don't exercise him enough and need the help of a professional trainer to assist you in training the dog. Huskies are great dogs - but a poor choice for most people.
Bluebonnet:
It depends on what she has done. There are different corrections for different behaviors. Your best bet would be to put her through Basic Obedience. Obedience training is obligatory & if she doesn't obey commands there are corrections for every mishap.
You cannot use the same correction for every problem, biting has its own set of corrections, not sitting has its own set of corrections. forging ahead has its own set of corrections. You do not discipline, your correct.
A Husky is one of the most stubborn breeds, hard headed & hard to train.
You have to learn how to train her. & it all starts with Basic Obedience. You can find it online, you can find it in dog training books & you & your dog can go to Obedience classes.
Barnes:
It's a mistake to think you should discipline a dog. You need to learn the basic training methods. Dogs don't understand punishment or sanctions. Dogs love to please and be rewarded. If you can't appreciate that you shouldn't own a dog.
